Gua Sha is a tradition in TCM (traditional chinese medicine)!
There are many ways to use Gua Sha tools/stones and one is Self-Massage on the face and throat areas. There many benefits, including lymphatic drainage – so important for maintaining healthy circulation and detoxing.
Another excellent and time honored application involves self massage on the face and throat areas. It’s important to first apply high quality oils and/or creams to lubricate the skin so that when you use your preferred stone, it will easily glide across your skin. With the grooved part of the stone, one starts at the mid line of the face and sweeps upwards and outwards toward the ear. Doing this for about 30 to 60 seconds per day brings circulation, toning, smoothing and strengthening of your skin, as well as helping to rejuvenate your skin. Your cheeks will appear pink and toned afterwards. It’s a wonderful feeling and great to know that we can practice this form of self care…. at such a low cost!
