Gua Sha – Need to know!

Gua Sha stems from Chinese medicine and is an age old, valued and beneficial practice. In English it means scraping.  In traditional Chinese medicine, it is an important tool.

Gua Sha uses polished and contoured stones, together with high quality oil(s) which are massaged into the skin.  The oil is needed to allow for glide across the skin and to prevent skin irritation.

On the face and neck, this easy to do, self massage, stimulates blood flow, de-puffs, contours and tightens the skin, as it encourages chi to move through the body.  It has also been shown to lessen fine lines and wrinkles in the process!

On the neck and jaw areas, it is known to lessen tension and assist with lymphatic drainage as well.

In 5 to 10 minutes per day, one can practice this self care technique to restore their skin to a healthier, more youthful state.

Many short videos on how to use Gua Sha stones are available on youtube.
